Explorer Dome: Astronomy show in mobile planetarium

With the Spring Term already nearing its end and the children having been learning about the exciting subjects of space and space travel, we’re excited to offer this fantastic event.

The DSS has booked a mobile planetarium (Explorer Dome) that provides Astronomy shows in mixed German/English language.

Date/Times: Saturday 4th March 2023
4pm-5pm – 35 seats for younger students and parents – KS1 (4-7 years old) & families:

The awe and wonder of space: a story-telling introduction to the earth, moon, sun and stars. Recognise that the sun is a star, find out why the sun moves across the sky, look for different phases of the moon and discover how to spot the pictures and stories in the stars. In English, with optional extras in German on request.

5pm-6pm – 35 seats for older students and their parents – KS2 (7-11 years old) & families:

Explore our sun as a star and the planets in the solar system, see how they move and what we see in the sky. Then go star-spotting to discover the constellations as they will appear tonight and discover the stories behind them through the gods and heroes, myths and monsters from Ancient Greece. Bilingually in a mixture of German and English!

Should we sell out these two shows, a third show may be added at 6pm.
Refreshments will not be offered, please bring your own.

Venue:
Dundry Village Hall in Crabtree Lane BS41 8LN (There are a playground and a football field next to it, in case anyone wants to burn some energy).

Price: £7 per ticket, the event organisers ask for parents to join their children so that they can be supervised (i.e. parents need to buy tickets as well).
