Volunteering

For the past 10 years the German Saturday School has been run as an initiative by parents. We are always looking for new volunteers to help run the school and secure its future.

We currently have three open positions:

Enrolment

This role manages the entire enrolment process, including setting up the enrolment form, assigning children to the correct class, and ensuring timely payment of fees. The system is very well established and streamlined, and the person responsible will work closely with the teaching lead and treasurer. It’s a central role to the school and a great way to get to know the families of the DSS.

Please reach out to Kerstin at enrolment@schule-bristol.org if you want to know more.

HR

The responsibilities of the HR role include, among other things, assigning teachers to classes and organising substitutes in case of teacher absences. Another task is organizing and conducting job interviews (together with another member of the board), as well as preparing, signing, and filing employment contracts. Additionally, the HR role involves conducting and documenting DBS checks, obtaining references, and filing all personnel-related documents.

Cafe Manager

This role helps to run the much-loved Parent Café at the German School Bristol. This is a fantastic opportunity to get more involved in school life, meet other parents, and help create a welcoming space for our school community.

As Coordinator, you’ll oversee the smooth running of the café each Saturday—managing the barista rota and making sure we have enough volunteer bakers to keep the cake table full. You’ll also keep an eye on supplies like milk and tea bags, and ensure all café equipment is working and well looked after.

Additionally, you’ll manage our popular Tonies Library, helping families borrow and return Tonies and collecting the small fees.

If you would like to get in involved or have more information, then please get in touch via info@schule-bristol.org, the private Facebook group or speak to one of the committee members at school.
