Annual General Meeting - AGM
On 8 October we are having our Annual General Meeting, where we will elect a new committee. We hope to have many members of the school attending and would be happy about new candidates for the committe. If you are interested, please come forward! If you have some special ideas for the school that you would like to put into practice, this is the best way to do it.
Find more information about the AGM on the invite.
Here you can also find our agenda for the evening.
Who does what? Have a look at our list of committee posts and responsibilities.
New Constitution
Please note: At the AGM we will vote about adopting a new constitution. We have decided to use the model consitution of the Charity Commission. We can then apply to become a charity.
A vital part of the Constitution are the "Objects" or objectives of our organization. You can read the objectives of the school below, we are happy to recieve comments on this.
Rules specific to our organisation are stated in the so-called Bye-Laws. On 8 October we will vote on the adoption of the bye-laws, too, so please read the document ;)
Objectives
"The objectives of the German Saturday School, Bristol are to provide a supplementary school for German-speaking children as well as children interested in learning German, who live in the Bristol area. The aim is to promote and advance language education and to further the children’s understanding of both written and spoken German in an environment where they can actively experience the language, not only by forging friendships with other children in surroundings where German will be spoken predominantly, but also by learning about the culture, history and geography of German-speaking regions.
One of the school’s focal points is to provide a centre in the Bristol area for the culture of German-speaking regions, and to promote German language and culture within the wider community. The school will be accessible to all children with an interest in German language and culture, and will aim to raise interest in German culture and language amongst children through its learning environment. The German Saturday School will support this goal further through organised events, such as celebrating traditional customs and festivals of German-speaking regions, which are open to the wider community."
